Matty Healy 'moves on' after Taylor Swift 'break up' with unexpected 'flame'

April 2024 · 3 minute read

1975 singer Matty Healy is ‘moving’ on after his ‘break up’ from Taylor Swift, as he’s reportedly been spotted jetting off to Hawaii with his ex-girlfriend, Meredith Mickelson.

Although it was recently reported music stars Matty and Taylor may be rekindling their short-lived romance, sources have now denied these claims.

Matty Healy and ex-Meredith Mickelson reportedly ‘holidaying in Hawaii’

It seems like Matty is moving on from Taylor as he’s reportedly jetted off to Hawaii with his ex, Meredith Mickelson.

Model Meredith Mickelson and Matt Healy were reportedly still dating when he recorded with Taylor in February, and the model had ‘no idea’ they were getting closer, according to The Mirror.

A source close to the 24-year-old told the publication that she “thought nothing of it” when they were spending time together at the studio.

“He’d spend the day in the studio and then come home to her. Things were going well until around March 29, then out of the blue, he stopped replying to messages and calls,” they alleged. He then went public with Swift four weeks later.

However, it seems like things have taken a turn now, as as well as the reported getaway, Meredith also posted a snap of Instagram inside a luxury villa, along with the caption “Happiness”. Of course, this could just mean she’s happy to be away, although some 1975 fans linked it to the title of their hit song.

Matty Healy and Taylor Swift’s relationship explored

The celebrity dating rumors between Swift and Healy go all the way back to 2014 when she was seen attending a 1975 concert with Karlie Kloss, although these were later denied.

Cut to 2023, and the rumors are back, but this time, there seems to be a lot more substance behind them. In April, Taylor broke up with her boyfriend Joe Alwyn.

In the following months, the Hollywood pair were spotted at each other’s concerts, even onstage, and on a number of dates together.

However, it wasn’t meant to be as TMZ broke the news that the two had ended in June. Since then, multiple reports have stated the two were both “extremely busy”.

The 1975 star addresses Malaysia controversy

Matty has been in the spotlight a lot lately, as the group was recently banned from playing in Malaysia after criticizing the country’s anti-LGBTQ laws and its government on stage in their headlining set. He also kissed his bandmate Ross MacDonald on stage.

The star has since spoken out about the ordeal, admitting that he and Ross “almost shaved their heads” because they thought they were going to prison.

Speaking on the matter on stage, he said: “What I’ll say is that doing the right thing often requires quite a lot of sacrifice and very little reward. And being seen to do the right thing requires very little sacrifice, and that’s when you get all the rewards.”
