Not only does Jack Shepherd look like the Thinking Out Loud star, but he sounds like him too.

In fact, the uncanny resemblance is so striking that the 23-year-old is mobbed in the street by fans and is even set to fill in for the chart-topping star at an upcoming wedding.

Jack, from Reading, has been performing for the past four years and has carved a successful career out of his similar appearance - and voice - to Ed.

And with Ed Sheeran topping the charts on both sides of the Atlantic with his 2014 album' X' - Jack's career has skyrocketed too.

Jack said: "In the early days when A-team first came out I kept getting told I looked like Ed, especially with the ginger hair.

"And when I did gigs I always played 'Drunk' and people would tell me how much I sounded like him - but that's just the way I sing, I don't try to sing like him.

"I always get mistaken for Ed - it doesn't matter where I go - and the best is when fans sing Ed Sheeran songs at me."

Jack, who also performs alone using a loop pedal, is regularly mobbed by fans asking for photos and autographs - and even more strangely, someone even popped the question

The musician takes it all in his stride and said he feels very lucky to have a good fan base of people who know every word to all of Sheeran's songs.

But, despite his success as an impersonator, Jack has never met his celebrity double.

He said: "People always stop me and ask for photographs, it's an everyday occurrence, and I am more than happy to pose with them.

"It's a great thing to be able to make someone's day, especially with younger fans who actually think I am Ed Sheeran.

"I have had some very strange requests and even a marriage proposal.

"One time Ed was playing in Reading just around the corner from the pub I was in and I was bombarded by people - I ended up having to sneak out the back. It was so surreal."

"This has been the craziest time of my life. I haven't had the chance to meet Ed yet, but it would be great to. Just to find out if he likes what I do."

As the UK's number one Ed Sheeran tribute act, Jack is inundated with requests and bookings for him to perform.

And Jack got perhaps the ultimate compliment when a couple asked him to perform at their big day - after the real Ed had to pull out.
